Day 3 - EPCOT

SO our first day we can sleep in a bit! WooHoo!
And guess what, we all woke by 6:30 anyway!
We had breakfast in POP food court, it was very good! I had the chocolate chip pancake platter: chocolate chip pancakes, turkey bacon, sausage and strawberries. Rebekah got the kids breakfast platter: eggs, turkey bacon, sausage, hash browns. John got the french toast platter: french toast, turkey bacon, sausage and strawberries.

Off to EPCOT!
The park was EMPTY. We got Right on Spaceship Earth. We were the only ones on the ride for a few cars either way so I was able to take pictures. Love this ride.

Spaceship Earth - Greeks teaching Math
Spaceship Earth - Romans creating the first "world wide web"
Spaceship Earth - "But then we hit a road block: Rome falls, and the great Library of Alexandria in Egypt is burned. Much of our learning is destroyed... lost forever... or so we think."
Spaceship Earth - "It turns out there were copies of some of these books in the libraries of the Middle East, being watched over by Arab and Jewish scholars."

Spaceship Earth - "Call it, the first back-up system."

Spaceship Earth - "In the meantime, here in Europe monks toil endlessly recording these books by hand, but that is about to change."

Spaceship Earth - "In 1450, Gutenberg invents the movable type printing press. Now knowledge can travel as fast as these new books, and travel they do."
Spaceship Earth - "Books make it easier to invent the future in every field, and the result is an incredible explosion of innovation that we call the Renaissance."

Spaceship Earth - "Extra, Extra!"
Spaceship Earth - "To send a man to the moon, we had to invent a new language, spoken not by man, but by computers. At first very large, very expensive computers, but we see the potential."
Spaceship Earth - "After 30,000 years of time travel, here we are, a truly global community, poised to shape the future of this, our Spaceship Earth."

Then we headed over to The Seas with Nemo and Friends. Walked right on and the tank area was empty (of people). They have a HUGE Ray there, she was 5 years old and over 5 foot from wing tip to wing tip. She was awesome to see swim right next to the tank glass!

Then we headed over to Rebekah's newest favorite ride, Journey into the Imagination. Figment has been my favorite since I first rode it in 1988, and now he is her favorite, too!

Next we went over to the Pixar Short Film Festival. They played The Pixar shorts “Get a Horse”, “La Luna” and “For the Birds” all in 3-D. I loved La Luna before, but in 3-D it is amazing!

Once World Showcase opened up at 11, he zoomed right over to Japan to do Pick a Pearl. We got 2 OK pearls and a very fun show!

We did  try the The Croque Glaces a Brioche Pressed Ice Cream Sandwich at L'artisan des Glaces in France.  We chose a lemon ice cream and raspberry sauce.  It was VERY good, will get one again!

We decided it was time to head back to the resort to drop off all our stuff and then head to Disney Springs because Rebekah was NON STOP asking to get some more TsumTsums. Unfortunately, they pretty much had no new ones for her to get (only Duffy and Thor), so she decided to get a big Figment PillowPet instead. On our way back to the bus we stopped at Goofy Candy and made some personalized Rice Krispy treats. Then back to our room to drop off purchases before supper.

Our plan was to take the bus to Magic Kingdom then take a boat to Wilderness Lodge. However, the Animal Kingdom bus came first and we were running late, so we took it! Animal Kingdom to Wilderness Lodge bus and we had perfect timing once again!

Supper was at Whispering Canyon! Rebekah was HANGRY! Our server Nikki was awesome and got Rebekah (and John and I) laughing. We had a really great time! One of the ways to have fun there is ask for ketchup...we were the first to ask and we got an unwrapped shipping box of 16 bottles of ketchup. They also did stick-horse races with the kids, Rebekah had fun!

We got the All-You-Care-to-Enjoy-Skillet which starting with Mixed Greens tossed in an Apple Vinaigrette dressing and fresh-baked cornbread then featured Slow-Smoked Pork Ribs, Barbecued Pulled Pork, Roasted Chicken, Oak-roasted Beef and Western-style Sausage, served with Seasonal Farm Fresh Vegetables, Mashed Yukon Potatoes, Cowboy-style Baked Beans, and Corn on the Cob.
Ribs were great, Chicken was amazing, sausage good, pulled pork good, beans great, potatoes great and the corn was 'eh'!

We too the Wilderness Lodge bus back to Epcot. Rebekah and I did test track (64.8 mph) and then we all went and did Figment again. Wandered around a bit then headed out and back home all dying of thirst! Love the refillable mugs!

Steps walked: 24,471 (12.03 miles)

  1. I love the nooks and crannies at Morocco, too. It's one of my favorite pavilions to explore. I am just loving those shirts you made!
